Recovery from Black Mold Damage

I am a registered nurse and do wellness counseling.  Therefore I am aware of the importance of nutrition in diet and of what is necessary for wellness in this nation with its depleted soils and processed foods.

My health started to deteriorate between 2011 and 2013 which puzzled me, but I attributed it to poor digestion, menopause and aging.  When my weight dropped to eighty-five pounds and I experienced pain in my back, tingling in my extremities, pain in my joints, rapid heart rate and constant anxiety, I knew that something was drastically wrong.  Nutritional supplements did not help and medical doctors offered no solutions.  It was a frightening experience.

Our son suggested that we see a naturopathic doctor who had helped his friend recover her health.  On the second visit in August 2013, I again repeated what I had told other health professionals that I feel better when I am out of my house and specifically when I am in the sunshine.  This doctor suggested that there may be mold in our home and sent Petri dishes for us to sample the air.

Black mold was quickly evident and we were on our way to answers.  We had lived in the house for twenty years.  Four years earlier, a leak in the humidifier attached to the furnace allowed mold to develop. Unknown to us, the system was circulating mold spores throughout our house.  We had the furnace replaced and duct work cleaned.

Then began the search for natural solutions to restore health to my body. Tests revealed that the mold had damaged my liver so that only one-third was functional.  I was limited to a diet of green vegetables and broth as this would not encourage yeast growth.

In early 2015, my husband and I attended an education event where we learned about an organic whole food liquid sea vegetable product from the Arctic Ocean.  I already knew the value of sea vegetables and aloe juice but had not found a suitable product.  Most supplements include fillers and preservatives to which I am sensitive.  The helpful representative for Company X provided me with a sample — four dehydrated stick packs of the liquid version which did not have any preservative or fillers.  This was a relief to me as I already had a shelf full of products which I had not been able to use.

I started with only one teaspoon of the reconstituted liquid supplement.  Each day I increased that amount until I was able to consume the total pack at one time.

Now in November 2015 I use one pack each day.  I am still on the journey to recovery.  I have noticed some weight gain and I rarely have body aches or swelling.  I eat a variety of foods including moderate amounts of fruit and meat, most vegetables, oils, and a few culinary herbs without the former reactions of rapid heart rate and anxiety.  I am able to participate in more normal daily activities.  Each day is a blessing.
